This depends upon 2 things; the operation you have had and also what your job is. If you have a gastric band, this is a really low impact operation on the body and you could easily be back at work within a week. For the more complex procedures such as the gastric bypass or gastric sleeve, although we’d expect you to be driving within a week, you will feel a little more tired after the operation and therefore we recommend 2-3 weeks off work, depending upon how demanding your job is.
