Meet The Surgeon

Who is suitable for weight loss surgery?

Why can’t everyone have weight loss surgery? Because we need to try and advise patients sensibly and balance the risks of the surgery against the potential benefits. For most severely overweight people, the risk to health and life expectancy of doing nothing is often greater than the risk of undergoing surgery, but this should be an individual, carefully considered decision. Bariatric surgery is not the same as cosmetic surgery, it involves a lifelong commitment to change from the patient in order to succeed.
