Miss Jennifer H Darrien: MBChB, BSc, ChM, FRCS.
Current Position: Independent Bariatric/UGI Consultant Surgeon: affiliated with Phoenix Health & Nuffield Health, Chester.
Specialism: Weight Loss Surgery, Benign UGI & Biliary Surgery, General Surgery, Remote & Rural Surgery Scotland.
Jennifer qualified in 2003 from the University of Glasgow, receiving extensive post-graduate surgical training in general and laparoscopic, (keyhole) benign biliary and UGI surgery in Scotland’s leading hospitals, (Edinburgh and Glasgow).
Following completion of her surgical training, Jennifer completed a Royal College of Surgeons of England approved Bariatric Surgery Fellowship at University College London Hospital and NHS Northumbria. She has held substantive NHS Bariatric & UGI Consultant Surgeon posts in both Scotland and England, (University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust). She currently contributes to the provision of General & UGI Surgery at Nuffield Health, Chester in addition to Remote & Rural Surgery in the Highlands & Islands of Scotland.
Jennifer is delighted to have worked as a Consultant Bariatric Surgeon with Phoenix Health since 2017. She has received direct mentorship from both Professor David Kerrigan and Mr Shafiq Javed. She has performed a range of NHS and Private, Primary and Revisional Bariatric Surgeries in the North-West of England. Jennifer has also contributed to Phoenix Irish Health, (Belfast) and Phoenix Health’s Elipse intragastric balloon service. Jennifer has enjoyed training and mentoring the next generation of surgeons at Phoenix Health.
Research:
Jennifer enjoys collaborating academically with colleagues (Research Gate) but derives greater pleasure as an invited Guest Speaker & Panellist at both Industry Events and National & International Meetings.
